Case study
We can all (some what) build apps now. What's next?
How we made brainbite's web and mobile apps come alive with Rive animations and gamification
A Rive animation and interaction design case study showing how Brainbite added production-ready motion, learning mascots, and gamified UI moments.

Overview
Initially, the Brainbite app was largely static, with non-performant, low quality GIF animations sprinkled here and there. In addition, at that time, multiple studies were coming out emphasizing the role that interaction plays in digital learning.
It was evident that we desperately needed tooling that allows us to: 1. Ship interactive, performant and production ready animations 2. Build features centered around interactive learning.
The Problem
Animation and gamification drives motivation, ergo, learning
Traditional tooling has high learning and implementation curve, has performance cost too.
The Solution
Rive allows you to build production ready, state machine (logic) driven animation with minimal code, other than declaration. We did this in two layers
Design and animation of gamified UI elements
The goal here was to provide distinction to important UI elements as well as playful transition states for UI elements.

Animation of learning mascots
The work defined and animated emotions, idle states, and implementation language for developers importing and using Rive files.
